Is it ok to use a regular 14 fret trussrod for a 12 fretter? doesn't seem to be a lot of shorter ones available.

I don't know if you could make any of the 14 fretters work or not. I suppose it depends on which rod, what end you adjust from, your scale length maybe even neck joint. I kinda' doubt it though. I just (this week) ordered a 2-way 12 fret truss rod from Martin's Guitar Maker's Connection. There was no 12 fret 2-way on the website so I emailed them. I got a email back from Gail saying they have them but I needed to call her to order (1 800 247-6931). She took care of me! She mentioned that the 12 fret got dropped off the website somehow. It was $13USD with $10USD shipping charge (so I ordered a second one since I was paying shipping anyway), I'm not sure what the shipping would be to Canadad.

OK. Thanks Bryan. I'll give Martin a call.

Grizzly has two-way steel channel rods for 12-fret guitars. Mark Blanchard will make up any length you need.

Alex, as much as I hate to admit this, I don't get it. I'd pretend I was not too dumb to know what you are talking about but I just can't resist a good laugh. Especially so when it is at my expense!

It was funny, I'm just too illiterate to have gotten it.

FYI I've used a Martin 14 fret 2-way rod for a 13 fret which worked fine.
